Filming and Editing Diary

Filing and Editing Diary

31/10/11 – Chloe filmed cut aways of sandwiches, using many camera angles and close ups in her kitchen. She took around 8 minutes of footage

11/11/11 – We filmed at Melodies (sandwich shop) we managed to get a full interview, cut aways outside and various panning and zoom shots within the shop

2/11/11 – Joe filmed on this day, he managed to interview 2 people and various vox pops in ASDA, and He also filmed some cut aways of sandwiches and people eating sandwiches

3/11/11 – Joe filmed again, he got another interview with McDonalds employee. He filmed more cut aways with close ups of sandwiches and being taken off the plate

4/11/11 – Connor and Joe began capturing footage and began editing, some of the footage didn’t work as it kept jumping and the sound was not working. We had to re-schedule for this to be re filmed

5&6/11/11 – Joe filmed what didn’t work previously and took more footage in ASDA, people buying sandwiches.

7/11/11 – Connor and Joe re captured the footage and this worked. We imported it into the editing software and began editing

8/11/11 – As a group we carried on editing and began logging the footage. Connor and Chloe went to Subway to film more cut aways

10/11/11 – We carried on editing and Connor and Chloe took turns logging the footage

11/11/11 – We continued to edit and put the order together, we needed more footage

12/11/11 – Connor and Chloe went to film an interview with Subway Manager and cut aways

13/11/11 – We captured more footage and Joe re-film stuff which didn’t work the first time

14/11/11 – Joe a Chloe continued to edit in order, we had begun to create a good order

16/11/11 – Joe managed to put together a full 5 minute version of the documentary

17/11/11 – We had to delete the 5 minutes because it was not of a standard to achieve a good enough grade. We began working on the opening sequence until our tutor agreed it was good enough

18/11/11 – We carried on editing and managed to achieve just over one minute, we got feedback and agreed it was much better.

19/11/11 – Connor filmed close ups of sandwiches and various other shots which we captured and logged.

21/11/11 – Connor and Chloe continued to edit in order, we had now reached around 3 minutes

22/11/11 – Carried on editing and began to look at titles and graphics

23/11/11 – Connor stayed behind in college to edit and add around 40 seconds so that we had a full 5 minutes

24/11/11 – Reviewed our footage an applied some minor changes so that it looked better and flowed better

28/11/11 – We chose a good song to go with the documentary (Stealers Wheels – Stuck in the Middle) we inserted it into our documentary and changed the volume so that it could be used in conjunction with the interviews

29/11/11 – We completed the plan for the print advert, narration and voice over

1/12/11 – Made final changes to the voice over and began thinking who could speak it for us

2/12/11 – We began taking looking at the possibilities of what picture to take for the print advert

4/12/11 – Joe and Connor made final improvements on the radio script and voice over

6/12/11 – We handed out and received our feedback questionnaires; we had to change the documentary slightly so we filmed some more vox pops on the blue screen in college. We captured, logged and inserted them into the documentary

8/12/11 – Connor and Joe recorded the radio ad and the narration, we realised that part of the narration had not been recorded. We worked with what we had for the time being and inserted it all into our documentary

9/12/11 – Chloe bought a sandwich and began taking pictures for the print advert

12/12/11 – Chloe made the print advert on Photoshop and as a group we made a few changes and agreed on the final draft

13/12/11 – The radio advert was completed and we began scheduling when we could re record the narration that didn’t work

14/12/11 – We re recorded the narration and inserted it into the documentary, it all fit well

15/12/11 – We began collating our results for the feedback questionnaire and tallied them and put them on our blog

16/12/11 – Our final day in college before the Christmas break, we checked over everything and decided we had finished all three texts

3/1/12 – Back a college and we re checked everything and posted to YouTube and now have begun working on the evaluation.

Edit Decision List

Once we had made our logging sheets, we then had to pick our shots carefully and then choose which ones we were going to use and which ones would make our documentary look the best it could be...

E-mail for song

To whoever it may concern

We would like to request the right to use your song Stuck in the Middle by Stealers Wheels in our A2 Media documentary. It is solely for educational purposes and will not be used to gain profit in any way what so ever.
